The Benefits of Oil Pulling

Have you ever heard of oil pulling? It may sound strange it did to me, but this ancient Ayurvedic practice has been gaining popularity. Oil pulling involves swishing oil around in your mouth for a few minutes each day, and the benefits it offers are truly remarkable. We found a video on instagram and made ours into 1ounce circular disk, froze and split it halves to use that remind you of cold peppermint candy. In this blog post, we will explore the numerous advantages of oil pulling and why you should consider incorporating it into your daily routine.

What is oil pulling?

Oil pulling is a traditional Indian folk remedy that involves swishing oil, typically coconut oil or sesame oil, in the mouth for 15-20 minutes. The oil is then spit out, and the mouth is thoroughly rinsed with water. This practice is believed to draw out toxins from the body and improve overall oral health.

Improved oral health

One of the most significant benefits of oil pulling is its positive impact on oral health. The swishing action helps remove harmful bacteria, plaque, and debris from the mouth, reducing the risk of cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Oil pulling has also been found to reduce the presence of Streptococcus mutans, a bacteria responsible for tooth decay.

Whitens teeth naturally

Tired of using harsh chemical whitening products? Oil pulling offers a natural solution for achieving a brighter smile. The oil works by pulling stains from the teeth, resulting in a whiter and more radiant appearance. With regular oil pulling, you can say goodbye to expensive teeth whitening treatments.

Detoxification

Oil pulling is not only beneficial for oral health but also for detoxifying the body. The oil acts as a magnet, attracting and removing toxins from the mouth and body. By eliminating these toxins, oil pulling can help improve overall health and well-being.

Improved skin health

Believe it or not, oil pulling can even benefit your skin. The toxins that are removed from the body through oil pulling can also contribute to clearer and healthier skin. Many individuals have reported a reduction in acne, improved complexion, and a natural glow after incorporating oil pulling into their daily routine.

How to get started with oil pulling

Ready to give oil pulling a try? Here's how to get started:

1. Choose a high-quality oil such as coconut oil or sesame oil.

(we used coconut and add it to a mason jar we infused with ground cloves and ground fennel seeds for the benefits.)

Begin with a crock pot, a mason jar, your herbs ground and oil. Fill your jar with oil, added the crush ground herbs and place it in the crock pot for 8-10 oils so the herbs can infuse the oil. Strain add essential oils ( we used eucalyptus, peppermint) and freeze in molds (we used a mold that is lemon slices and shallow) so we would have flat circular disks about 1/2-1ounce of oil. Once the oil is frozen break them in 1/2 or keep them whole.

2. Place in your mouth and swish around for 15-20 minutes.

3. Spit out the oil into a trash can (avoid spitting it into the sink to prevent clogging).

4. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.

5. Brush your teeth as usual.

Repeat this process daily, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach, for optimal results.

Oil pulling is a simple and affordable practice that can have a profound impact on your overall health. By incorporating this ancient technique into your daily routine, you can enjoy improved oral health, whiter teeth, detoxification, and even better skin. Give oil pulling a try and experience the incredible benefits for yourself!
