Beginners Castile Olive Oil Soap

  • Made from olive oil, castile soap lets your skin breathe and encourages the natural process of shedding dead skin cells
  • Olive Oil-20 oz
  • Lye 2.5 oz
  • Distilled water 7.5 oz
  • Combine lye water solution to Oil when both at the same temp, this recipe I got from the library when I first began states you can mix @110 degrees, the standard for soap making is often 120-130. Blend to medium trace, pour into a chilled mold, refrigerate 1/2 hour, remove and spray with alcohol, cover loosely w/ plastic wrap, put back in frig, let set overnight, remove, unmold, cut and let cure 4-8 weeks, Due to the high amount of Olive oil this bar can take a longer time to firm/harden (cure).
  • If you want to add a fragrance remember 1 oz of fragrance oil to 16 oz of oil and .7 oz of essential to 16 oz of oil is the standard. Enjoy your soap!
